Pokemon Gold/Silver are the second season of pokemon. This game introduces 100 new pokemon. There are new areas, towns, pokemon and gym leaders. This game has twice as more events as R/B/Y.

Pokmon Gold and Silver Walkthrough

When you first start your game, you are given two options. Choose the top one to begin your game.

The game will ask you to pick some numbers. These numbers are for setting the time of day. This is not very important. Professor Oak then gives an almost identical speech as in the Pokmon Blue/Red version. The game will ask you to pick a name. The top option is to write out your name. If you cannot read or write Japanese, this is pointless. Pick one of the other names. The second name is Silver, the third name is Kamon, the fourth name is Tooru, and the fifth name is Maseo.

You start the game in your room. Begin by looking at the poster on your wall. That is the map. Then, go downstairs. Your mother will talk to you, and then ask you what day it is. Pick any option. Then, press the top option. Remember, the top option is "Yes" and the bottom option is "No". You will be seeing these two options a lot during the game.

Leave your house. Immediately, go to the house on the left. That house belongs to Professor Utsugi, and is the home of his laboratory. He will give you your first Pokmon. The Pokball on the far left is Hinoarashi. This is a fire type Pokmon. The Pokball in the middle is Waninoko. This is a water type Pokmon. The Pokmon on the right is Chicoriita, a leaf type Pokmon. Pick one and continue on your way.

Leave Professor Utsugi`s laboratory and continue left. You will face some Pokmon including Otachi, Pidgey, and others. You will eventually reach a building with a "PC" This is a Pokmon Center, of course. Heal your Pokmon and go up the path right next to the shop. Keep on heading north. You may see some Pokmon fighting. Go up the path that is to the right of them, and you will eventually reach a house.
Inside the house you will see someone and Professor Oak. They will talk to you, and Professor Oak will give you a Pokdex. After you leave the house; Professor Utsugi will call you on your cell phone, saying that one of his Pokmon has been stolen and to ask you to return to his lab.

Return to Professor Utsugi`s laboratory. As soon as you leave the first town, you will run into your rival. She will have the Pokmon that is strong against yours, and she will battle you. Once you win, continue on to Professor Utsugi`s laboratory. Talk to him, and then leave. His assistant will give you five Pokballs. Go back to the first town. On the way, a person will show you how to capture Pokmon. Pay attention, and capture some Pokmon on the way. Continue up the path that was blocked by the fighting trainers, and face all the trainers that challenge you. You will eventually find a cave. Ignore the cave, and continue left until you reach Kikyou City. You will then find a Pokmon Center. The first item on the list from which to buy items from is a Pokball. Remember what this symbol looks like so that you can buy more in the future.

Continue up to the northern part of the city. You will see a tall building. This is a Bellsprout Temple. Work your way up to the top, and beat the leader. He will give you Flash. You will need to capture a Bellsprout and teach it Flash. Go to the cave and get everything you can. Then, return to the gym and defeat the Gym Leader to earn the Wing Badge.
____________________________________________________________

Once you leave the gym, you will get a call from Professor Utsugi. He wants you to go get a Pokmon egg from a man at the Pokmon Center. Make a spot in your starting six for it, and then talk to the man with the glasses in the Pokmon Center near the first gym.

Continue to the left side of town until you come across several caves. Go to the higher one and solve the Kabuto puzzle. This will awaken some Pokmon, and drop you down to a lower cave.

Capture one of the strange looking Pokmon, called Annoon. Now, continue back east until you see a path going south. Continue south fighting trainers and catching Pokmon until you get to a person who asks for one hundred yen. Say Yes, and enter the Pokmon Center. Talk to the man with the hat, and he will give you a fishing pole. Go to the pond to the north, and fish for a Magikarp. Now, continue back south until you reach a cave. Work your way through the cave until you get to the southern exit. Leave the cave, and walk west until you reach the town and pass a blocked off cave. Continue on to the house on the northwest side of town. Talk to the man inside. He will run out and unblock the cave. Go to the cave that was blocked and defeat all of Team Rocket inside and free the Slowpoke.

Now you can face the second gym leader, who uses bug Pokmon. Her level 18 Scyther is brutal. Once you defeat the gym leader, she will give you the Insect Badge.
______________________________________________________________________________________

Exit the second gym and continue on the path to the west. You will find a boy who lost his Farfetchd. Continue down the path, and chase the Farfetchd towards the boy. When he gets his Pokmon, he will reward you with Cut. Teach one of your Pokmon Cut, and cut the tree right above the boy. Follow the path heading north until you get to a building. Talk to the girl with the Butterfree inside the building, and she will give you a TM. Continue north.

You will see a house with a pond in the front yard. Inside the house are people who will breed your Pokmon. Also, you can fish for Krabby(s) in the pond. Continue north until you reach the town.

Find the building that has only a staircase leading to a basement. It is on the bottom left side of the town. Go down the hall beating trainers. On the way, you will pass another hall. Remember that you will return later. Go up the stairs, and you will be inside another house. This house will take you outside. Again, continue to the left middle side of the town. You will find a guy that will give you a bike. In another building (the giant metal one), talk to the woman on the far right. Answer Yes, Yes, Yes, No, Yes, and No. She will give you a radio. Go to the gym and defeat the normal type gym leader. She has a Clefable and Mirutanku. It is powerful for a silly looking cow.
______________________________________________________________________________________

After you leave the third gym, go to the house directly to the east. Inside, you should see two women. Talk to the one on the left. She will give you "Squirtle Water." Now, work your way north to the garden. Go east, and you will see an odd looking tree. Use the "Squirtle Water" on the tree and it will come to life. Battle it and catch it. Now, continue north, and go left (going right will take you to the town with the first gym). Continue until you reach the next town. One building has a play going on inside of it. Challenge all of the women. They have the five types of Eevee, including the two new ones. When you defeat them, you will have a lot of experience. Go to the gym and fight the trainers. The invisible platform is easy to figure out. The gym leader likes ghost Pokmon. I found Pidgeotto very useful against them. When you win, you will receive the Phantom Badge.
____________________________________________________________

After beating the Phantom Gym, return to the building with all of the Eevee trainers. Talk to the audience. One person will give you the Surf TM. Now, leave the town heading west. You will eventually reach a town with an empty gym. Go to the building to the left of the Poke Center. Talk to the people in the building. One of them will give you the Strength TM. Then, go to the beach and surf to the Island towards the west. That gym uses fighting type Pokmon. After you defeat that gym leader, return to the city with the empty gym. Go to the southeast part of the city. You will see a lighthouse. Work your way to the top and talk to the woman on the top. Answer the first option, and she will walk away and return to her gym. She has Seel and electric Pokmon. She is quite difficult to beat.
____________________________________________________________

After beating the sixth gym, leave the town and head back to the city with the Ghost Gym. Leave that town through the eastern exit. Head east surfing across the pond until you get to a city where the gym is blocked off. Head north from there, until you get to a lake. Surf over to the Gyarados in the center. Its a one of a kind golden Gyarados. After you defeat it, you will see a person dressed in black next to a sign. Talk to him, and pick the first option. He will fly away. Return to the city below, and check all of the houses. One of them will have the man wearing black. Follow him into a trap door. You are now in a Team Rocket base. Make sure you look at the computer near the scientist on the first floor. Then, work your way through to the top. Defeat the trainer, and go back to the second floor. Beat the Electrodes powering the building. Then, leave. The blocked gym will now be open. All you need to bring is a Machoke, and you will win quickly.
____________________________________________________________

After you leave the seventh gym, Professor Utsugi will call you saying that the radio station was taken over by Team Rocket (that is where you got your radio). Return to the city with the third gym, and go to the big metal building. Work your way to the top and beat the Team Rocket member on the top floor. You will receive the key to a door. Leave the tower and go to the house above the tower on the map (it should have stairs leading to a basement). Once you are underground, go down the hallway and unlock the door. Solve the switch puzzle, and once you pass it flip the switch next to the wall. Then, go through the door. You will appear in the shops basement. Get the Pokball. Now, return to the Radio Tower and open the door that was locked. Work your way up to the top and defeat Team Rocket.

Now, go north to the city with the Ghost Gym. Then, head east past the city with the Ice Gym. Keep heading east until you end up in the Ice Cave. You have to skate around in one part. Make sure you get every Pokball you see. One of them contains HM7 that allows you to climb up waterfalls. Once you leave the Ice Cave, you will be in the next town, which has a Dragon Gym. Once you beat the leader, he will not give you the badge ... yet. Swim to the cave above that gym and go to the lower right part of the cave. Open the Pokball. He will then come and give you the Dragon Badge.
____________________________________________________________

Leave the Dragon Cave, and head straight south. You will arrive near your hometown. Talk to Professor Utsugi. He will give you a Masterball. DO NOT USE IT YET. See that pond next to your house? Swim across it. You will hit land. Then, enter the cave. Use HM7 to swim up the waterfall. Now, head east until the path takes you north. Talk to the woman inside the house. She will revive your Pokmon. Head north until you reach a building. Inside the building, you will notice two paths blocked off. The path leading east leads to the Pokmon Red/Blue/Yellow/Green map! More fun later! Anyway, head north. Go through the cave. You will reach the large Elite Four building. It is a good idea to have a balanced team of Level 55 Pokmon to defeat the Elite Four. I do not want to ruin the fun, but bring a good fire Pokmon. He can fry two of the Elite Four easily on his own, if he is around level 60.
____________________________________________________________

After you beat the game and the credits roll, you will return outside your house. Go to Professor Utsugi and talk to him. He will give you a boat ticket. Go to the town with the sixth gym (where you got Strength). Once you are there, head south. You should walk through a tunnel to the port. Talk to the guy blocking your path and he will let you on the boat.

On the boat, fight every trainer on the top floor. Then, go to sleep in your bed. Fight any new trainers in all the rooms. Go to the lower deck and talk to the girl next to the captain. You will then appear on the top deck. Now, you can leave the ship.

You are now in Vermillion City. Go left to Lieutenant Surges gym and beat him. He will be extremely easy. You will win the Thunder Badge.

Head north to Saffron City and beat Sabrina for the Marsh Badge.

Go south to Celadon City and beat Erika for the Rainbow Badge.

Go to Fuschia City and beat Koga for the Soul Badge.

There is a path north of Celadon City that leads to the northwest corner of the map. You will see Misty smooching with someone. She will see you and return to her gym. Beat her for the Cascade Badge.
____________________________________________________________

After beating Misty, go to the Power Plant (where Zapdos used to be). Talk to everyone inside. Before you leave, one of the Officer Jennies will talk to you. Go to the Ghost Tower (where Gastlys used to be; it is now a radio station). Talk to the guy facing the wall. Now, go to Misty`s gym, and search around the part right above Seel and the other guy. Now, return to the Power Plant and talk to the guy that is all by himself on the right side. He will give you TM07 and an item. Now, talk to the guy in the Ghost Tower who is facing the wall again. He will then give you a radio station to listen to and a keycard.

Now go to the Snorlax on the east side of Vermillion City and play the radio channel that is all the way to the right. Then, go to Snorlax and he should wake up. He is the only one in the game so capture him. Now enter the Diglett Tunnel.

On the other side, go to Pewter City and beat Brock for the Boulder Badge.

Head south to where the Seafoam Islands used to be. Stick to the left side. On the bottom left, you will come to an island. Talk to the guy who is stuck in a corner. The guy is Gary, he will then disappear. Continue west until you get to another island with one cave. Go inside and beat Blaine for the Volcano Badge.

Head back north to the town right above Pallet Town. Go to the gym I call Lego Gym, and beat Giovanni for the Earth Badge.

Now go to Mount Moon and inside you will fight your rival again (I believe for the last time). Then, head to Victory Road. Now, inside the Elite Four building you should be able to go to the other side of the hallway (remember where it splits off into two other hallways). Go down the left hall, and into the next area. Continue east until you reach a cave. Way inside you will find Ash. His Pokmon are about level 70. He has a Snorlax, Pikachu, Charizard, Venusaur, and two others. After you beat Ash, the credits will roll. You beat the game.

POKEMON GOLD AND SILVER TRICKS.

shining pokemon trick:

you've all wanted this trick so here it is.for it to work properly, use a pokemon that can evolve
First, place a flying pokemon that has been taught FLY as the first pokemon in your lineup, the "Golden Gyarados" as the sixth position, and the pokemon whose color is to be changed in the second position.

After doing this, put all of the pokemon back into the PC except the first one. Next, take out the pokemon that was in the second position before, the one that will be changed.

Enter the bug-catching contest that is near Kogane city. This is held on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. As soon as you enter it, exit right away. When the clerk asks you if you want to quit, make sure you say NO, which is always the lower answer.

Now use your Flying Pokemon to FLY out of the contest. Store the pokemon that will be changed in a PC, then go back to the contest and say YES, the top answer, to complete the contest. Return to a PC, withdraw the pokemon, and check its status screen. The pokemon will be a different color, but it will have Gyarados's name.

Grow the pokemon until it evolves. You may want to use Rare Candies if you have any. Now when you go into battle with the evolved form of the original pokemon, it will have a shining status.

item duplication:

Equip a pokemon with a strong item, such as a Master Ball. Put a pokemon with FLY in the first position of your lineup. Put a very bad pokemon, such as Rattata, in your second slot, and put the pokemon with the item to be duplicated in your sixth slot.

Put all of the pokemon into a PC box except for the first one. Take out the second one. Enter the Bug Catching contest, but exit it as soon as you enter. When the clerk asks you if you want to leave, say NO which is always the bottom answer.

Go back in and use the flying pokemon to leave the contest. Deposit the second pokemon back into a PC. Go back to the contest and say YES, which is always the top answer, to finish.

Now check your status screen. Your second pokemon should be in your possession, and it will have the item you wanted to be duplicated attached to it. Take the item away from it, then throw the pokemon away. You may do this as many times as you want to get the items you need.

how to get togepi:this really aint a cheat but alot of people r askin how to get him.after you beat the first gym leader,go to the pokecentyer.there will be a sceintist their from wakaba, talk to him. he will give u an egg.walk around for a while and it will hatch into a level 5 togepi!

note: emperordodsworth@yahoo.co.uk(jetlogs@yahoo.com) wrote the cheats below

BREED POKEMON TO GET THE SAME TYPE AS A MALE POKEMON
Most of the super-rare pokemon are genderless, so you
cannot breed them. However, the ones such as Usokki,
Snorelax, Eevee, Lapras, Burakki, your starter
pokemon, Togepi and pokemon only got from traders in
the game are always male, so if you breed them with
another pokemon, you dont get the rare one, you end up
with the female pokemon that u bread it with.
There is a way to get round this problem.
You must use pokemon of the same type when breeding,
but for this example, I will show you how to breed
your starter pokemon so that the egg you receive
contains a pokemon of the same type as your starter
pokemon.

CHEAT STARTS

First of all, Catch a Nidoran male and a Nidoran
Female. These can be easily caught just outside of the
bug catchers tournament. Put the Nidoran female in to
breed with another pokemon of the same type. Go to the
bug catchers tournament (dont play the game). You
should come across a melon shaped pokemon that is
female. You should also notice that your main pokemons
gender has changed to female. Defeat the melon pokemon
and go back to the breeding centre without fighting
any wild pokemon or trainers. All pokemon in your box
should now be female. Get back the 2 pokemon that were
breeding, and put them in the PC. Take out the Nidoran
male and put it in to breed with your (now female)
starter pokemon. When walking around outside waiting
for the pokemon to breed, Dont fight any trainers or
wild pokemon, or you will risk changing your starter
pokemon's gender back to male. Receive the egg and
when it hatches, it will be the same type as the
mother (your starter pokemon).

CATCH WILD LEVEL 70 HOUHOU AND WILD LEVEL 70 LUGIA ON
SAME GAME!!!!
For this trick, you need both the silver and gold
rom's and one of them needs to be completed at least
up to Pewter City. This is why it is a trick rather
than a cheat. It does not ruin the gameplay. This
trick will do you the most good if you chose Chikorita
at the beginning of the game because then by the time
you have got all 16 badges, you will have a level 90
plant type, a level 70 fire type and a level 70 water
type pokemon.
This trick can be done on the gold rom in the same
way, but as an example, I will show how I got these 2
ledgendary birds (both at level 70) on the silver Rom.
1)Play Silver on your emulator.
2)DO NOT USE NO$GB EMULATOR FOR GOLD/SILVER ROMS. IT
DOES NOT WORK. USE ANOTHER EMULATOR.
3)First of all, you need to remember when getting the
first set of badges that you should NOT catch the
level 40 lugia.
4)Play on the silver ROM all the way up to pewter
city, get the feather and go back to the 4th gym and
catch the level 70 HouHou. (Dont use your masterball
yet).
5)Save the game and switch off your emulator.
6)Go to the folder where your Silver ROM is located.
That folder should be found in C:\Unzipped\
7)Copy the .SAV file to the folder where your gold
ROM is located.
Change the name of the copied file so that it is the
same as the name of the gold ROM (if there is already
a .SAV file there that has the same name as the ROM
file, change that existing file to a diferent name).
8)Load your Gold ROM onto your emulator and choose the
continue option on the title screen.
9)You should now be where you last saved in the Silver
ROM.
10)Go to Lugias cave, and since you are now playing in
gold, the Lugia that is there should be level 70.
Catch it. (I used my masterball on this Lugia because
Lugia is much harder to catch than Houhou).
11)You should now have a level 70 Lugia and a level 70
Houhou.

CATCH ALL POKEMON IN GOLD AND SIVER IN THE SAME
GAME!!!(continued from the trick above)...
12)Save the game and make a backup by copying the new
.SAV file to a new folder.
13)Catch all of the pokemon that can only be caught on
gold and are not catchable on Silver.
14)Copy the new .SAV file back to the original folder
that has your Silver Rom in it.
15)Change the name of the copied .SAV file back to the
same name as that of the Silver ROM.
16)Load Silver onto your emulator and choose the
continue option on the title menu.
17)Catch all of the pokemon available on Pokemon
Silver, and you should have all of the pokemon
available on both gold AND Silver.

EXTRA STRANGE POKEMON IN ERIKAS'S SQUAD.
I dont know exactly how I got this trick to work, but
the pokemon in Erika's squad that I found has not been
mentioned in any other walkthroughs that I have seen.
Here is how I think that I got it to work, but like I
said, I'm not sure. I will send you a copy of the .SAV
file from just before I beat Erika, so U can have a
look 4 yourself.
In gold/Silver, if you miss out the cerulean City Gym
and dont get the missing machine part, and go straight
on to the Celadon City Gym where Erika is, you will
fight a much stronger squad than normal, including a
powerful level 128 Okutan (#224). It is a water type
and looks like an orange octopus. After beating misty,
I went back and she still had this lv 128 pokemon in
her squad.
You can defeat it if u r lucky. Take your starter
pokemon, which should be about level 80, and take
plenty of other reserve pokemon and a few full
revives. Dont worry, u will normally get knocked out
in the 1st turn. Bring out your 1st reserve pokemon
and use full revive on your high level starter. After
a few turns of doing this it should start to use moves
that r less powerful than the one it used at the start
of the match(HM07). It will sometimes hurt itself or
use a potion, but if you r lucky and it doesn't use
"float" a lot of the time, you should be alright. You
will get about 4400 exp.points 4 defeating it.
Another extra pokemon she will have is a lv 4 Ratatta.
Also, when you defeat her, U will get TM19(Gigadrain).

RARE POKEMON WITH MORE THAN ONE EVOLUTION-HOW 2 GET
ALL EVOLUTIONS
Pokemon that u might want 2 make female 2 breed using
the trick I mentioned earlier. (or use the shiny
pokemon trick. The shiny pokemon one is much easier,
the pokemon you get is at a much higher level than if
you breed 4 it and its stats r beefed up.) These
pokemon can only be caught once, but have more than
one evolution:

Baruki: 3 evolutions all evolve at lv 20(Hitmonlee,
Hitmonchan and Kopoera).
Breed 2 more Baruki's to get all of them.
Hitmonlee is got if the defense is greater than the
attack when it evolves. Hitmonchan is got if the
attack is greater than the defense when it evolves,
and Kapora is got if the defense is the same as the
attack when it evolves.
Alternatively, you can get another Baruki by using the
shiny pokemon trick, which will give you a Baruki of
the same level and then it will be shiny with beefed
up stats when evolved

Eevee: 5 evolutions
(Flareon-fire stone, Vaporeon-water stone,
Jolteon-thunder stone, Eefi-evolve during day,
Blacki-evolve during night).
N.B. Eefi and Blacki can be evolved by making Eevee
happy and levelling it up and keeping it with you, but
you can choose to not keep it with you or make it
happy, and it will eventually evolve at level 50
anyway.
Breed or use shiny pokemon trick 2 get 4 more Eevee's
to get all of the evolved forms of it.
Alternatively, Eevee can be bought at the game store
in Celadon City for 6666 coins, or you can get one
from Bill in Kogane City or you can Duplicate one
using the shiny pokemon trick, which will make it
shiny with beefed up stats when it evolves.

EASY EVOLVE FOR RARE POKEMON
You know that
to evolve certain Pokmon like Eevee,Togepi,Chansey and Golbat, you need to
make them happy. There is an easier way to make them happy without training
them at all.Give the Pokmon 10 HP UP, 10 PROTEIN, 10 IRON, 10 CARBOS, 10
CALCIUM and they should be happy. Finally, give the Pokmon 1 RARE CANDY to
raise it 1 level higher and they should evolve. This trick is costly but it
is easy.

these cheats were submnitted byh9864844@magix.com.sg

This code allows you to clone Pokmon like Eevee and Baruki(the fighting Pokmon which can evlove into Hitmonlee,Hitmonchan or Hitmontop). This is how it is done:Deposit the Pokmon you want to clone into your PC.Then change the box, which contains that Pokemon, with another box.It will ask you to save, say YES.While the game is saving, you turn off the Gameboy. When you switch it back on again, thecloned Pokmon will be with you and the other Pokemon will be in the Box.You can use this code to clone Masterballs,Rare Candies etc. but you need to equip that Pokmon with the item.I got this code from:www.pokemasters.com .If you have any questions about this code e-mail me at:h9864844@magix.com.sg .Could you give me credit for this code and to the pokemasters as well.

Alternate Pokemon Colors
Did you know that there are Pokemon hidden in Gold/Silver that have alternate colors, aka shiny status? There is no easy way to find them (except for the Red Gyarados in the Lake of Rage) as they appear at random -- but they're out there. If you see specially colored Pokemon, be sure to catch them as they are very rare. You can recognize them by the sparkle effect when they appear in battle, or by checking on the Pokemon Status Screen. Next to the Male/Female symbol, these special Pokemon are marked with three dots.
There are any number of these rare types, including alternate versions of Nidoking (dark blue), Golbat (purple/green), Tentacruel (green eyes), Rapidash (purple), Scyther (orange/green), Hoothoot (yellow/purple), Sudowoodu (green/red), Ho-oh (yellow/orange), and more.

Breeding Evolutions
At the Daycare Center south of Goldenrod City on Route 33, you can give a male Pokemon and a female Pokemon to the keepers to breed new Pokemon.
Breed two Pikachus to get Pichu.
Breed two Electabuzzes and you get Elekid.
Breed two Clefairies and you get Cleffa.
Breed two Jigglypuffs and you get Igglybuff.
Breed two Magmars and you get Magby.
Breed a Venonat with a Pinsir to get Pinsir.
Breed a Hitmonchan or Hitmonlee with a Ditto to get Tyrogue.
Breed a Clefairy with a Snubbull to get another Snubbul.
Breed a Gyarados with the Red Gyarados to get a golden Magikarp.
Replace any of the Pokemon with the genderless Ditto if you've only got one of a kind. Ditto will act as a wildcard Pokemon.
For more on Breeding, check out the Breeding Section in our Strategy Guide.

Duplicate Items/Clone Pokemon
Note: Use this code at your own risk. It may corrupt your save data if done incorrectly.
Go to a PC, and save. Attach the item you want to duplicate to the Pokemon you want to clone. Deposit it into the PC. Change boxes. When the screen is saying "Saving the game..." Turn off your GB. Turn it back on. You should have the deposited Pokemon in the PC, and a clone of it in your lineup. The item will either be on both monsters, or in your Backpack. Note: while doing this code, DO NOT withdraw any Pokemon. When the GB is turned back on, you'll find that the withdrawn Pokemon has been deleted. Note: You can duplicate up to 5 items/Pokemon at a time.

Rare Pokemon Locations
Having trouble finding those really rare Pokemon in Gold/Silver? No problem, IGN's here to help:
Ho-oh -- There is only one Ho-oh in Gold and Silver, so make sure you catch it. You can find it on top of the Tin Tower, but you'll need the Rainbow Wing to go up there. You get the Rainbow Wing from the Radio Station Manager in Goldenrod City (Gold version) or the old man in Pewter City (Silver version).
Lugia -- You can find Lugia in Whirl Island, off Route 41. You'll need to know the HM 06 Whirpool technique to get in as well as the Silver Wing. You can find the latter in Pewter City (Gold) or the Radio Station in Goldenrod City (Silver).
Chikorita, Totodile, Cyndaquil -- These are the three starting Pokemon in Gold/Silver. You have to pick one of the three -- if you want the others, you'll have to trade with a friend.
Entei, Suicune, Raiko -- Dogs, cats, what are they? Who cares! They're cool and they're exceedingly rare. To catch these guys, go to the Burned Tower in Ecruteak City. When you get close to them, they will run away. After this brief encounter, these fast creatures will roam around Johto. So where do you find them? Check your Pokedex and have some Fast Balls ready.
Togepi -- Professor Elm's assistant will give you an egg in Violet City after you beat the Gym Leader there. It will hatch into Togepi.
Tyrogue -- You can get this young Fighting Pokemon from Blackbelt Kyo (if you have an empty slot in your party) in Mt. Mortar, or simply breed one using Hitmonchan or Hitmonlee and a Ditto.
Sudowoodo -- This odd Rock type blocks your way on Route 36 (just like Snorlax). Use the Squirtbottle from Goldenrod City to battle it.
Porygon -- You can get Porygon for 9,999 coins in the Celadon City Game Corner.
Snorlax -- Snorlax is blocking the way into Diglett's Cave. Use the Poke Flute to wake it up.
Eevee -- Apart from winning an Eevee in Pokemon Stadium or the Celadon City Game Corner, you can also get one at Bill's House.
Aerodactyl -- There is only one Aerodactyl in Gold/Silver, but it's not that hard to get. Catch a Chansey and trade with the girl on Route 14 to get it.

Set Your Clock For Daylight-Savings
Return to your house and talk to your mother. She will ask you if you want to set your clock to Daylight-Savings time.

Shiny Pokemon Trick
If you want the full benefit of this code, use a Pokemon that can evolve. Otherwise, there will be some confusion with names and so forth.

Solving the Unown Mystery
The ruins of Alph are home to the mysterious Unown (#201), the only Pokemon that exists in more than one shape. Solving the different sliding-tile puzzles will drop you into the ruins below, where you can capture the mysterious Pokemon. In the beginning, you can only access one puzzle (the solution is Kabutop). You can get to the rest of the ruins once you have Surf and Strength. Surf lets you swim to the south cave which contains a puzzle of Aerodactyl. The other two puzzles are reached through the Union Cave using Surf and Strength. The puzzle to the southwest is an Omanyte, while the one to the west is a picture of Ho-oh. Please do not cut and paste these codes from IGN Codes. All text content on IGN is copyrighted.
The more puzzles you solve, the more varieties of Unown will be available to be caught. (There are 26 variations in all, one for each letter of the English alphabet. Ruins of ALPH, get it?). Once you have caught at least three different shapes of Unown, go to the Alph Lab just outside the first entrance. You will receive an upgrade to your Pokedex that lets you view and collect the different shapes of Unown. Please do not cut and paste these codes from IGN Codes. All text content on IGN is copyrighted.
After you have caught all 26 shapes of Unown, you should return to the lab. Using the machine in the corner, you will now be able to use the Unown shapes to create and print out banners using the "Unown font" (if you have a GB Printer).

Special Poke Balls
You can give Apricorns to the Poke Ball maker in Azalea Town to get new types of Poke Balls. Here is a list of what they're good for.
White Apricorn: Fast Ball -- Good for catching Pokemon that try to escape from battle quickly.
Red Apricorn: Level Ball -- If your Pokemon's level is significantly higher than the wild Pokemon's, it will be an easy catch.
Blue Apricorn: Lure Ball -- Good for catching Water types when fishing.
Pink Apricorn: Love Ball -- If the wild Pokemon's gender is opposite that of your Pokemon's you'll have an easier catch.
Black Apricorn: Heavy Ball -- Big enough to catch heavy Pokemon like Snorlax.
Green Apricorn: Friend Ball -- Pokemon caught with Friend Balls will become very attached to their trainer. Good for Chansey (if you want it to evolve into Blissey).
Yellow Apricorn:Moon Ball -- Good for catching Pokemon that evolve with Moon Stones, like Clefairy and Jigglypuff.
